The terms of use of the proposed Moroccan dirham symbol: drawing, SVG and PNG files, and the “MAD Symbol” font.

Free to use

  • Use the symbol as supplied, in any project, including commercial and client work
  • Install and embed the MAD Symbol font
  • Resize the symbol and show it in a single solid colour

Only with the author’s written permission

  • Modify, redraw or create a derivative version
  • Register the symbol as a trademark, logo or design
  • Official adoption by a government, central bank or institution
  • Use as a company’s logo or brand

  1. 1Free use

    You may, free of charge, worldwide and for any purpose, including commercial projects and work for clients:

    1. a)use, display, print and reproduce the symbol exactly as supplied, in websites, applications, interfaces, documents, designs, signage, packaging and presentations;
    2. b)install and embed the “MAD Symbol” font in websites, apps and documents;
    3. c)resize the symbol and set it in a single solid colour, following the usage rules published at madsymbol.com.

  2. 2Conditions

    1. a)Credit the author where reasonably possible (credits, about page, documentation or source code): “Dirham symbol: El Mehdi Laaroussi (madsymbol.com)”.
    2. b)Follow the published usage rules (clear space, minimum size, no distortion).
    3. c)Keep this license with any copy of the files you redistribute unmodified.

  3. 3Not allowed without the author’s prior written permission

    1. a)Modifying, redrawing, tracing or re-designing the symbol, or creating any derivative, adapted or “inspired” version of it, in any medium, including modified fonts.
    2. b)Registering the symbol, or a confusingly similar sign, as a trademark, logo, industrial design or any other right, anywhere.
    3. c)Claiming authorship of the symbol or presenting it as your own creation.
    4. d)Selling or sublicensing the symbol or the font files themselves.
    5. e)Adopting, standardising or using the symbol as an official currency symbol by a government, a central bank, a public administration or institution, or any organisation acting on their behalf.
    6. f)Using the symbol as the logo or brand of a company, product or service.

  4. 4Status

    This symbol is an independent, personal proposal. It is not an official symbol of the Moroccan dirham and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Bank Al-Maghrib or any public institution. Use of the symbol does not imply any endorsement by the author.

  5. 5No warranty

    The files are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. The author shall not be liable for any claim or damage arising from their use.

  6. 6Termination

    Any use that breaches this license automatically ends, for that user, the permissions granted in section 1.
